Erika Smith and Dr.Rob Neal

Player Story

Dr.Rob Neal and his student, Erika Smith, discuss how they have used the ELVA system over the past year to improve her swing mechanics.

Player Story:

Hi there. I'd like to introduce you to Erika Smith, who I've been coaching for about 12 months now. And we've worked extensively on her swing mechanics using the Elva system. And she's just going to give you some insights. She's used both the sensor-based system and the Elva. And so she's got some really good insights into the strengths and weaknesses of both systems, but maybe highlight the positive things that have come out in the word for it.

Yeah, I mean, I've been using it for the past year now, and it's been really helpful, I think, to be able to get a better view of just my game in general. I like to think I'm a pretty technical player, so being able to see The numbers and see a visual representation of the things that I'm doing in my swing is really great. I personally really like the 3D models. I think it's really cool to be able to see exactly where kind of every part of my body is and every part of my swing. And you can really get the details of everything. And I think that's really important, especially when you're playing a game as intricate and as finite as golf. So it's been a really great experience.

And I think one of the other things that's been really beneficial for Erica, I mean she was a good golfer before I started working with her, but we were able to make small changes to her swing mechanics and use the 3D to tune her feels compared to what she used to do. So she had a, well you can talk about your feels in the swing and then what you had to.

I mean, some of the biggest parts were just kind of the way that my body was moving and kind of the transition and the downswing and things that I couldn't really feel. I thought I was doing them right and then I would look at the feedback and it wouldn't be quite where we wanted it. And so to be able to see even just a few degrees off, right, that can make a huge difference in the swing and the results and everything. Being able to see those tiny little, even just one or two degrees off was really beneficial. Yeah.
